Situated in Palma de Mallorca servicing some of the most significant vessels in the super yacht industry. 3D Tech specialises in design and engineering for custom composite and metal components, refits, modifications and composite repairs for large yachts.
3D Tech specialises in design related projects, with a wide portfolio of products as well as the ability to effect structural optimisation. With a heavy reliance on 3D CAD technology, 3D Tech can develop designs through concept sketches, models, renders and animations, to fully engineered build drawings.
The team has provided design and engineering support for many high-level projects, liaising directly with the owner, captain, management companies through to the most reputable shipyards in Europe. With a particular focus on the refit sector, some of our clients include Nautor Swan, Vitters, MB92 Barcelona, Green Marine, Oyster, Icon Yachts, CNB Yachts, Lurssen and many more. Being based in Palma de Mallorca, 3D Tech is positioned in the world's busiest super yacht re fit centre.
HOW CAN WE HELP
COMPOSITE ENGINEERING
The team at 3D Tech all stem from a background of composite engineering and yacht construction. We are available to assist with laminate specification and repair detailing for all structural and cosmetic components.
ONSITE ENGINEERING SUPPORT
Being based inside STP in Palma, we are at hand for support and project management of any installation or modification. Our team will regularly visit other yards or boats on the other side of the world to offer consultation and design support.
LARGE STRUCTURES - SMALL COMPONENT DESIGN
3D Tech are available to assist with projects of all sizes including biminis, swim ladders, swim platforms, furniture, pools etc. Our combined knowledge of yacht construction, part production, design, engineering and CAD gives us the capabilities to take on any project from concept to delivery.
TOOLING DESIGN
To coincide with part design, we can also help with tooling and jig design. We understand the requirements and constraints of in mould manufacturing. We regularly assist with design and supply of tooling in aluminium, carbon, tooling block etc, or can supply full plywood mould kits.
RAPID CUSTOM PART PRODUCTION
By utilising 3D CAD design, we take full advantage of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technologies through a network of companies around Europe, which give us a range of out-of-house manufacturing capabilities such as Multiple axis CNC machining, 3D printing in polymers or metals and 5 axis water jet cutting.
REVERSE ENGINEER WITH 3D SCANNING
To aid the refit process the yacht or component can be 3D scanned and all systems and interior layouts can be checked for dimensional feasibility. With 3D scan data we can reverse engineer, and design new structures to fit exactly with existing geometry.
3D & 2D CAD SERVICES
We offer a full 3D and 2D drafting services to produce drawings based on a client's own specification. We can validate a client's concept in a working 3D assembly, produce photo realistic rendered presentations, and can produce detailed 2D drawings from 3D geometry.
